The Pressure Is On

The Hamilton 24 Hour Film Festival begins tonight!

At 8pm, we're given a prop, a line, and a location to incorporate into a screenplay that has to be no more then five minutes in length (on film).

We'll be going strong till midnight (myself and three other writers) - it's do or die because not only do we have to write a screenplay, but we have to write a GOOD screenplay. Like, competition-winning good. The pressure is ON.

After it's written, the rest of the 24 hours will be spent on shooting, editing, all that crazy film hoopla that I don't know much about. Maybe I'll get to watch some of the process.

I'm nervous and excited *gulp* - I love being part of projects, especially where there's writing involved. But I think we'll have a lot of fun doing it.

Did I mention that it will be me and a room full of middle-aged men? lol yep. I'm the only woman working on this (aside from the actress, who I probably won't even meet). That should be interesting!

If our entry wins, it will be played at some fancy-shmancy event and will be a very awesome item to add to my CV, yes ma'am.

It's nice to be productive/needed and all that jazz - I need more projects like this on a consistent basis. Mind you, I'm a complete amateur when it comes to script writing (I think I've attempted it once or twice) and have no wish to pursue it (I'm mostly there tonight for prose/dialogue purposes, being the awesome writer that I am), but any experience is good experience... unless it's a bad experience...

I shall divulge all the literary/filmy/testosterony goodness (and other equally unexciting items) when I return. Wish me luck!

-Love Marylin.
